Happy Summer everyone!
I am thankful for the slower pace, but I am always looking for fun activities for my family. I'm a big believer in "a bit of structure" each day to keep things from falling into total chaos. One fun activity each day (even if it's going to the pool, again) gives us something to look forward to and motivates us to finish the necessary chores of the day.
When I'm chatting with clients about In-Home Family Photos during the summer, I feel spoiled for options when it comes to "activities" to include in our time together.
Here are a few of my favorite ideas for summer-time fun (that photographs well) :
1) Water (pool, sprinkler, water balloons, splash pad, hose, etc.). If you don't want to be in bathing suits for the whole session, we can save these activities for the end; it gives everyone something to look forward to. Also p.s. you don't have to get into a bathing suit at all, we'll let the kids do that.
2) Food (popsicles, ice cream, pizza, watermelon, backyard picnic, s'mores, shaved ice, lemonade, etc.). Snacks make for a delicious break in the action, and give everyone a chance to recharge. Often I like to pair a water-activity with a drippy/melty snack so that we can wash away the mess.
3) Movement (jumping on the trampoline, swinging, skateboarding, sliding, playing basketball, roller-skating, zip-line, etc.). Some families have one (or more!) of these toys in their yard; if you don't, we can find a local park or sport-court where we can play.
4) BONUS! Though I love celebrating the every-day normal moments of your family, summer does lend itself to some unique activities. Such as... making a lemonade stand, playing Putt-Putt, going to a baseball game, go to the beach or a local lake, picking berries, go to the farmer's market, work in the garden, go on a nature walk, etc.
So many fun ideas, which one would your family enjoy doing together?
